Principal's Message for the 2011-2012
What's New
The Elk Island Catholic Elementry Reporting Process will be refined beginning in the 2011-2012 School Year. Providing on-going communication to parents and involving all key stakeholders in the process will ensure student-learning remains at the heart. "There has been a tendency to rely on report cards and grades as the main communication tool. They are usefull in communicating the students'achievement at certain times of the year to the students, parents, teachers and administrators, however they are just one piece of an overall communication system" (O'Connor K., Cooper D., & Manitoba Education., 2008, p. 19).
Elementary Schools Reporting Process
In accordance to the above changes, OLPH will also make some adjustments at the JH level. Providing on-going communication to parents and involving all key stakeholders in the process will ensure student-learning remains at the heart. As always, The JH student marks will be available on Powerschool at all times, thus providing a 'live report card' at any time during the school year.

Bienvenue!
Nestled amongst the rolling hills of Alberta's wild rose country lies the growing community of Sherwood Park. Our Lady of Perpetual Help School is centrally located in this peaceful hamlet and is privileged to accommodate approximately 675 students in a full track French immersion setting from kindergarten to grade nine. In addition, O.L.P.H. is a member of a larger family called Elk Island Catholic Schools which is the title of the school district. The district office unites schools in Sherwood Park, Camrose, Vegreville and Fort Saskatchewan.
A single track French immersion program exists at O.L.P.H., and instruction in English and Spanish is provided. Two administrators manage the school, and several teachers, each holding unique talents, instruct a variety of subjects, while support staff members and two custodians work alongside. Many parent volunteers can also be seen within the school helping in a multitude of ways.
The school facility was one of the first built in the community and it has witnessed several renovations, especially in the last few years. Upon entering the front doors, two "wings", or corridors, spread out in a square- like fashion, and smaller hallways branch off from wing 2. With a well equipped gymnasium, portable computer labs, library and music studio/ theatre, O.L.P.H. has many physical advantages.
